The Rwanda sports minister Protais Mitali says they are in no rush to name a new national coach to replace Ghanaian Sellas Tetteh.
This comes after the Amavubi beat Benin 1-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier this month.
"It's important that there is some bit of continuity after the Benin victory, so Nshimiyimana will carry on temporarily," the minister told New Times newspaper.
"It is also fair to reward Nshimiyimana because he did a good job in Benin. He has built some confidence in the team and normally, it takes time for this to happen."
The minister also revealed they have not reached an agreement with Mico Milutin Sredojevic.
Some of the interested individuals for the coaching job include stand-in trainer Eric Nshimiyimana, Stephen Keshi (Nigeria) and former Wasps coach Ratomir Dujkovic.
Rwanda face Eritrea in a pre-World Cup qualifier tie in Asmara on November 11 with the second leg in Kigali on November 15.
