Manchester City's Carlos Tevez could be closing in on a deal to join AC Milan in the near future.
The Italian club's vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed that he has been given permission to speak to the striker. Tevez, who has been frozen out of first-team affairs at Manchester City since his alleged refusal to feature against Bayern Munich in the Champions League almost three months ago, is said to have his heart set on a transfer to the Serie A champions - and a deal could be on the cards.
"Tevez is a City player. The English club has authorised us to speak to his agent but we haven't spoken directly to City yet," Galliani told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We don't know what City want."
"I prefer not to speak too much about Tevez, otherwise his price will go up and this is not good."
Galliani reportedly had dinner with Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian in Milan on Monday to discuss a move.
Brazilian champions Corinthians have also been linked to Tevez, but it appears he is set to shun their interest and pursue a move to northern Italy.
"A return to Brazil? It's a possibility, but for the time being he wants to play in Europe," Joorabchian told www.milannews.it.
"He is training intensely. In January he wants to return to have a starring role and play in a great club."
