Preparing for RAMADHAAN

Ways to show we are thankful for Allah's gifts****

1) Tawbah. ****

2) To clean our hearts from diseases****

** **

Each of the upcoming months has special nights:****

**· **Rajab: 27th (Isra and Miraj). ****

**· **Shaban: 15th. The eve when provisions/events are decreed for
the next year. ****

**· **Ramadan: Laylatul Qadr. ****

** **

*RAJAB:** *****

**· **This is a great month because it the month of Allah. ****

**· **Night of 27th of Rajab is the night of Isra and Miraj. This
was a reward to the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salam) for all the hardships he endured that year (ie going to Ta'if and being rejected by the people). On this day we should try to...
****

**· **make qiyam****

**· **fast****

**· **give sadaqa****

**· **Essentially do a lot of ibadah on this night. It was a
celebration of Rasullullah on this night. ****

** **

*SHABAN:** *****

**· **This is the month of the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salam). ***
*

**· **Do abundant salawat****

**· **Make taubah--between every salah and majlis. ****

--Erase sin in Shaban and be purified in Ramadan. ****

**· **Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salam) would fast the most in
Shaban. ****

--Best siyam after Ramadan is Shaban. ****

**· **15th of Shaban: this is the night Allah opens 300 doors of
mercy; forgives those with pure tawhid****

--Prepare dua for this night: what you want to ask from Allah?
****

--What does the ummah need?
--Call people you don't talk to; ask about your kin.
--Forgive people so Allah will forgive you on this night.
-- Make the night alive:****

--pray, Quran****

---those people guaranteed that their heart will be alive when other hearts die. ****

Four important points that Rasullullah left that if you hold on to, Allah will lighten your heart. ****

1) Take care of fard. ****

2) His (sallahu alayhi wa salam) sunnah; the hikmah he left for us. Hold tight to his sunnah. ****

3) His adab. ****

4) His akhlaq, his behavior. ****

*RAMADAN*: ****

**· **This is the month of the ummah. ****

**· **On the eve of Ramadan, Allah is asking "Who is asking for Me,
I will ask for him. Who is asking for forgiveness, I will forgive him". *[Dua to be recited (?) ]*****

**· **The beginning 10 days of Ramadan are those of mercy, the next
10 of forgiveness, and the last 10 being saved from the Hellfire. ****

**· **Start preparing oneself for ibadah. ****

** **

Five times to pay attention to during Ramadan: ****

1) When you break your fast. Make dhikr before iftar. Make dua. Dua accepted between adhan and iqama. Eat light, pray, then come back to meal--meal will be full of barakah. ****

2) Between Maghrib and Isha, make this your time for Quran, tasbih, dhikr.
Reciting Quran is important in Ramadan. ****

3) After Fajr and Shuruq--this is when one set of angels go up to the heavens, and the next set come down. Make this time for adkar. Pray Duha after Shuruq. ****

4) When wake up for Suhoor--this is the time Allah is in the 1st heaven.
Suhoor is very important; even if it's just water, or one date, but don't skip because Rasullullah said Allah will shower us with mercy and the angels will make Istighfar for us. ****

5) Jumuah****

6) Laylatul Qadr ****

7) Night of Eid. ****

Things to do in Ramadan: ****

1) Pray in jama'a because jama'a is better than praying alone. Don't delay salah; when you pray at the beginning of time, you are pleasing Allah. ****

2) Sadaqa: try to give sadaqa every day. Uthman (ra) would give sadaqa early in the day. ****

--Allah will make you live longer, give you good ending, have healthy body, give you barakah, it will cool the fire of a sin, will be like an umbrella on Day of Judgment, and Allah will write in your book that you are "Kareema" (generous) ****

3) Be good to your kin. Buy your parents gifts before Ramadan. If you are close to your kin, Allah will make you close to Him. Make a pact with your husband that no arguing during Ramadan. ****

4) Lots of dua. Ask for protection from the near. Prepare dua ahead of time; ask for husn khatima. ****

5) Quran. Least is one khatima of Quran; perfect is every 3 days. ****

6) Do something good i.e. visit someone sick, make Cds of Quran and give to others so they can benefit, summarize classes and send to friends. ****

3 types of fasting: ****

1) One where you are just refraining from food/drink but limbs are not in control, following desires. You aren't benefitting from fasting; you are just feeling hunger, not going to be rewarded. ****

2) People fasting, but controlling body parts, have mujahida with body parts. ****

3) For those really special---you are protecting your heart from looking at anything but Allah. And Allah will reward you by allowing you to look at His face. This is the level of ihsan. ****

3 things Allah loves to see you do during Ramadan:****

1) When you hear the adhan, break your fast****

2) Eat suhoor; better to delay it. ****

3) Standing in prayer****

** **

5 things are medicine of the heart: ****

1) Quran will lighten your heart when you read it, know meaning, and follow.
****

2) When your stomach is empty****

3) Qiyam ul Layl****

4) Istighfar at sahar time (last 1/3 of night)****

5) When you sit with people that have taqwa in their heart; the saliheen
