Kenya will host the 2012 Council for East and Central Africa Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup.
A Cecafa congress meeting held on Thursday morning in Dar es Salaam endorsed Kenya to host the glamour event come next year.
Football Kenya Federation President Sam Nyamweya described the awarding of hosting rights as very good news.
“It demonstrates the confidence the region has in Kenya as a sporting nation,” Nyamweya said in Dar es Salaam.
“Serious work must begin now. We envisage Kisumu City to be one of the host venues. As soon as we return to Kenya, we shall engage the Municipal Council of Kisumu to begin preparations in earnest.”
Kenya last hosted the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in 2009 while Tanzania hosted last year’s event as well as the 2011 edition.
