Vivek Nagul, who holds an UEFA 'A' Coaching Licence from England after having done his AFC 'C' & then 'B' licence, has been appointed as assistant coach of Tanzania's elite football clubs in Azam FC . Vivek was the asst. coach of Mahindra United and Pune FC. Vivek is the Founder - Director and Head Coach at All India Youth Football Academy based in Pune, and he has experience of Maharashtra senior and junior state football teams.

KFC : Being an Indian what difference do you think exists between the footballing culture of Asia and Africa particularly between Indian and Tanzanians?.
VIVEK : Football is like a RELIGION for Aricans (Tanzanians). Every vehicle has a EPL Club flag which ever they support, even the public transport like, Buses, Taxies, Autos, Tempos, Trucks etc. They only talk about Football right from young kid to old man.
KFC : The Africans are always praised for the physical specimen they are. Do you agree to this view.
VIVEK : Yes definetly they are very goody, every player has 6 pack abs.
KFC : The newly formed football club have been complemented having a strong youth system so what are the methods followed to form a successful grass root.
VIVEK : The owners of AZAM FC are well reputed group in East Africa, whatever they do they put in a lot of thought behind it, similarly for the Football team they have a concept of making home grown players and can utilize them in senior team and also want to give the better players an opportunity to play in the better leagues (Europe).
KFC : Since the inception what has been the formula of success for Azam FC to create such a revolution eg;- finishing third last season.
VIVEK : The AZAM FC owners have a forward planning and they do thier best to fulfill the plan. The AZAM brand is been established in East Africa, now they want explore in entire Africa through Football club. The planning and implementation of the staff and players have done it. The players were offered the best Bonus also.
KFC : Taifa Stars lethal striker Mrisho Ngassa signed for Azam years back and is currently the richest player in the league. How has he adjusted himself to the new team.
VIVEK : Ngassa is a fantastic player, and has a good attitude in the practice sessions also. He is a very popular personality in Tanzania. With the TEAM growing fast he thinks its a great change in Tanzania league. Last season 16 goals and new top players signing will put him on toes and he will do the best with support each other.
KFC : Azam FC is said to have recruited the best players in the country. What are the reasons which helps to attract such good players around.
VIVEK : The management and Coach Stewart Hall had a all looked into the League and planned a stratergy of Recruitment of players, with this same stratergy they explain the players about it. The last seasons performance proves that this a Club is going to make revolution.
KFC : Is the club helping in developing national superstars to a Tanzania side which has not made such an impact in recent years. VIVEK : Currently the U-23 Tanzania has 5 AZAM players, 6 senior Players and 9 Under 20 players in the National Squad. AZAM FC has a plan have having a Academy which can produce players for Tanzania. They have designed a Long term and short term plan for this.
KFC : How did you manage to the live up to the challenge in adjusting yourself to the African footballing culture being an Indian?
VIVEK : I always wanted to explore myself to new inovations,thats the reason I have even got 6 Coaching Certificates from England including UEFA'A' License and did the AFC 'B' and 'C' license. When I recieved this opportunity I immediately agreed. I want to learn how the africans are doing so well in all the leagues in the world including India. I would like to share my knowledge with India surely.
KFC : What are your tips for the young coaches in India who dream to coach foreign sides. Any demand of Indians?
VIVEK : Beleive in yourself, I appreciate Baichung's playing in Bury FC England and Sunil at MLS league. I would like Conratulate Mr. Robin Dutt an Indian origin coaching for Bayern Liverkuesen. Work determined in Coaching, get qualifications and knowledge from the courses but My sincere request keep Coaching.
KFC : Who is your inspiration among the current managers and your favorite all time football icon.
VIVEK : JOSE' MOURINHO is my Idol and a big fan of him. My all time Football icon is ROY KEANE (Ex- Manchester United)
KFC : Now you are in the full phase training with your new team Azam FC in Tanzania..How u enjoy it? Say something about the training method. Head Coach Stewart Hall, of Azam FC, Tanzania
VIVEK : The training field is the 4 th Generation atsro turf made by italian company, and ist been approved by FIFA. The training ground is the best in country and the infrastructure like, an Olympic standard Swiming pool, Huge Gym motivates us to do our jobs at the best. We are in the pre-season training developing the players physically and technically. I am enjoying the sessions and a lot to learn from my Mentor Mr. Stewart, his knowledge in Football and handling the players in amazing. I am priveliged to work with International stars of Uganda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Tanzania and Serbian players.
KFC : How you rate Mr. Stewart Hall, the Chief coach of your team? How he manage the team?
VIVEK : He is master of the game, everything he does has a plan before and knows haw to get it done. He respects all the players and staff including ball boys and bus driver and all related to the Club. He tries to solve every players problem on and off the field. He works on the team and also individually develops players with extra work which helped them getting back into National squad or to do well in the club.
KFC : Tell about the Football structures of the Azam FC. Is it differ from any I- League clubs? or have you seen any similarities of the same between India and Tanzanian National League System?
VIVEK : First of all they have made their own training ground where they can train 24 x7 , all age groups. The infratsructure they have built is appreciating, having a swimming pool, a gym, a 25 posh rooms for Academy boys, huge Kitchen and Dining for players, Restaurant, Own 42 seater a/c Volvo BUS, and individual cars for staff and foreign players. Similarity in League is same. There are 2 big teams in Dar-e-salam which are similar to Kolkatta teams. There is huge crowd for the derby and less for other games.
KFC : Though you are in abroad but we think are aware of the Punjab side JCT's recent announcement for not playing in Indian Pro-League in Future like Mahindra United where you were the Asst. Coach before your last Pune FC Job. What is your reparcation about the matter?
VIVEK : Its very sad that the Top corporates are pulling back, and even Indian Arrows were struggling to survive, thanks to the Kolkata based company. Yes it was shocking that a first League champion team is been vanished. There are no teams from North India. The League has to be more popular and the sponsorers should get their returns. I am sure the AIFF must be thinking of resolving the current situation, hoping for the best in Future.
