PRIVATE candidates wishing to sit for ordinary and advanced level secondary examinations will from this year make registrations online. The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA)'s Public Relations Officer, Mr John Nchimbi, said the system is designed to speed up the process and reduce human errors. ''When the system is done manually there are higher chances for human errors and it is time consuming,'' he said during the ongoing Public Service Week exhibitions at the Mnazi Mmoja Grounds in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
The potential candidates will have to log onto www.necta.go.tz where they will be able to make registrations. Payments for registration can be made either trough mobile phone money transfer services or through Post Offices across the country without necessarily visiting NECTA offices physically, Mr Nchimbi said. If the system proves successful it will be rolled out for candidates registered through schools. ''The system started over the last two years but candidates could choose either to use it or make registration manually. However, from now on all private candidates must use the arrangement,'' he said.
He said with the manual system, NECTA is forced to hire about 40 registers to compile thousands of registration files.
NECTA was established in 1973 to administer examinations in the country. Some of the exams administered by the Council are Certificate of Secondary Education (Form Four) Examinations (CSEE), Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (Form Six) Examinations (ACSEE) and Primary Leaving Examinations.
Others are Grade A Teachers' Certificate Examinations, Grade A Teachers' Special Course Certificate Examinations and Diploma in Secondary Education Examinations.
